Moving on, first of all it is short sighted to associate the black community with being liberal. We are not monolithic. Maybe if white members of the NRA would pull support from an anti gun person like Giuliani your argument would hold more weight. It is overreaching to say that no organization would be further from the Klan than the NRA. Maybe the Peace Corps? I have nothing against the NRA and support the right to bear arms, but having spent years covering and interviewing NRA leadership, there is no monolithic point of view that is anti-racism. And I believe you know that. There is no flag in my comment. I find it interesting that you are more interested in extolling the virtues of the NRA here rather than reading my response in context of this thread and addressing the implication of Alyssa's comments associating N-words with gangs and "not liking guns." I hope you think about that for a moment. PS One of my oldest black female friends has an expert NRA rating and she got it more than 20 years ago while in college. Although I know very well that Carmen did not in any way equate the two or make any insinuations. the mere mentioning of the two in such close proximity threw up a flag I thought I should address. as a 3rd generation life member I can assure you that the N.R.A. is nothing more than the largest group of patriotic, constitution loving, loyal americans who exercise their 2nd amendment rights to ensure that all of our constiutional freedoms will always exist. The NFL sanctions a football league, the PGA sanctions Golf matches. the NRA organizes shooting matches and promotes gun safety...period. a shooting match is the most racially blind type of competition there is. believe me, the greatest acknowledgment of trust and respect one man can give another is to allow him to stand beside him on a firing line while handling deadly force. every black friend i have ever taken shooting was amazed at how open and accepting shooters are of other shooters regardless of race. its a special bond...and they become hooked! please…anyone in view. I don’t know why

One component of racism is ignoring that fact that racism is pervasive in our society. Are you guilty of that?
