The opportunity for distinct races and cultures to swirl into a delicious and unique blend is one of America’s most inspiring possibilities. I am not a fan of the melting pot idea because “melting” implies that all distinct forms dissolve into an indistinguishable glob. No. I prefer the idea of a delicious, long simmering stew, one where you can taste the various spices. But with the addition of heat, time and close proximity, all the flavors blend to create a dish more appealing than any one ingredient ever could.
