Great post! Yes, I too signed the petition because I know how important reading is to young, developing minds. It is forever important to all of us all of the time! Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Could it be that the master plan is to keep the masses more ignorant and unthinking? How else will a few enslave us more than we are already?

Carm, it’s clear to me that you haven’t learned a single thing during the past 7 years. Reading may be fundamental, but it doesn’t make the world safe for democracy; unlike that $500 billion currently being well spent in Iraq.

On the real, great post Carmen. With literacy rates dropping at a mind-boggling rate, it becomes more and more important to protect the few resources we have to combat this epidemic.
