Clinton Issues Post-Primary Schedule (Yes, Post-Primary Schedule)

May 29, 2008 2:04 PM
ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: The press traveling with Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign received an email Thursday afternoon informing reporters they could sign up for travel through June 6 on the campaign website.
Given the speculation surrounding plausible outcomes from this Saturday’s DNC Meeting and the final Democratic primaries on June 3, many confused looks passed between reporters on the back of the press bus.
When asked for comment, Clinton spokesman Jay Carson looked past Tuesday’s primaries to the general election. …

I came across this over at Jack and Jill politics. Michelle Obama spoke out about the poisonous talk of assassination – and the possibility.
Here’s what went down in Phoenix on Tuesday:
…(Michelle Obama) Called on another supporter, whose voice quivered and broke with barely contained emotion as she explained how important it is to her, personally, that our country change course. She explained that she had just returned from Oregon where she campaigned for Obama and attended the 75,000-person rally by the river. She had noticed, she said, that the Secret …

Another story
So unfortunately, one of the poll workers on my team has hurt her back and she will not be available to work next Tuesday’s election. We had a lovely chat, but one exchange tickled my funny bone and fell right into the question I’m asking right now.
We found ourselves talking about how this was our first election participating as poll workers. I commented that during training, I met several people who had worked more than 20 elections and marveled at their dedication. She interjected that she knew of someone …

One Story
So I accompanied my husband to the mobile phone store because we needed to replace his old, outdated flip phone with a Blackberry. My back was killing me that day and so as we got to the counter and began the l-o-n-g process of purchasing and activating his new toy, I took the opportunity to sit down on the (carpeted) floor, resting my back against the sales desk. That’s when the fun began.
In walks a young, attractive white couple. They walk directly over to a particular phone display and …

*UPDATE* May 30, 2008 – Wider variety credentialed in General Blogger Pool. See Complete List.
Although I have no party affiliation right now, eight years ago I walked away from the Democratic Party and registered as a Republican. In part it was because I believed and still believe that the Democrats take the black vote for granted and when expedient, marginalize black voter concerns at the drop of a hat and without any regard to possible consequences.
In my view both parties should have to compete for all votes including those …

From the New York Post:
Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.
“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it,” she said, dismissing calls to drop out. New York Post

These images are viscerally offensive. But they were not created by those you would expect. The second photo appeared on the cover of a Georgia newspaper. The first illustration was created by a liberal, white blogger at Daily Kos named ONECITIZEN – trying to make a point. This is unsettling because I expect violent, angry, white racists to always fantasize about raping, torturing and possessing strong, black women. They will always twist their craving for sexual dominance into some kind of hollow-piped rhetoric trumpeting racial purity and white superiority. …

I’ve taken the first steps to become more involved in protecting our democracy. I will be a polling place supervisor during California’s June 3rd election. My day will begin at 5:00am and go until about 10:00pm. In all I’ll be paid about $170 for time, which includes the two-and-a-half hour training session I went through a few nights ago and the 2 hours or so required to pick up all of the voting equipment for the polling station (this Sunday.) It does not cover the snacks I’ll need to buy …

I had to laugh this morning when Harold Ford, former US Senate candidate and MSNBC talking head, agreed with Pat Buchanan that Obama should have campaigned in Kentucky. My inner dialogue responded, “Gentlemen, you guys must not have been to the Kentucky I’ve been to.” It all sounded like second guessing bluster in contrast to the remarkable days Barack Obama has recently enjoyed.
And if you’re looking for more evidence as to why Obama need not waste time and energy in Kentucky, finally a mainstream newspaper is actually reporting and …

Have you seen “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian?”
If so, please indulge my little rant that follows. It includes a mild spoiler. No plot points mentioned per se, but just a little – ahem- colorful observation.

Passin’ Me By
The Pharcyde
If you love early hip hop and are of a certain age, you’ll remember The Box. I went through a phase where I ordered up this song every night for a couple of weeks. Of course it took hours for them to play it so I didn’t get much sleep during that time.
It was worth it.

Dear Mr. Steele,
This note is long overdue. I write to thank you for single handedly disproving the myth that black people, in herd like fashion, will always vote for the black guy because he’s black. The fact that you lost your bid for an open Maryland Senate seat in November 2006 does more to refute bone headed and simplistic analysis of black voter behavior than a thousand posts from this blog, and many others, ever could.
Afterall, even in a Senate race where your perhaps ill-advised candidacy created excitement and genuine …
