My fellow Afrospear blogger, activist D. Yobachi Boswell, has started a chain I want to continue over here. In his post “A little help can go a long way”, he puts it like this:

I’ve been telling you the last couple of weeks about the absolute devastation in Haiti from being hit by 4 tropical storms and Hurricanes with in less than three weeks. If you missed that, you can read here and here as well.

This morning I made a donation to Food For The Poor, directed to Haitian relief. It was only a mere 20 dollars, it’s what I have for the time being. It’s not much, but I understand that things add up.

If you have a few bucks you can spare, and you’ll put your 20 dollars with mine, and on and on then it won’t be just $20.

He is exactly right. I matched Yobachi’s $20 with a donation to ‘Food for the Poor’. Giving up a week of Starbuck’s iced teas is more than worth the good that will be spread with that $20.

So as we look at the devastating storm damage in Galveston, once one of the loveliest cities I’ve visited, let’s keep those in Haiti in our hearts as well.

Dig as deep as you can to give right now.
