Andrew Padula for Montgomery County District 4 Council Seat

By Andrew Padula on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009, 8:27 am Comments

My friends and readers at AAR,

I want to let you know that I will be jumping in feet first to take on the good fight.

I live in the most racially and economically diverse Council district in Montgomery County Maryland. Montgomery County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation. Unfortunately, the inequitable distribution of public services and quality zoning/ development is embarrassingly obvious.

A member of the council has passed away and a special election is being held for his seat. Since I have been a resident of this area for the majority of my life, know the issues, and I care, I have filed for Candidacy for the Montgomery County District 4 council seat.

I feel that every citizen deserves the same quality ride for their quarter. I intend to see that we get it. It is still a work in progress but you can find out more about my run at padula4mcc.com.

Wish me luck…

my district has 40% of the MPDUs and minority population. We only get zoned for low-mod income or high density housing. they are proposing a nice light rail system for the *ahem other side of the county... we get busses, they want to cut police here by 10% and at the same time they want to build a 900 ac equestrian center in potomac... you tell me, should someone stand up? i had to run. Frankly, I'm surprised that the urban league hasn't sued the pants off this county.
