If you have been relying on print, cable or network news outlets for information on the Iranian uprising – you have been missing out. The real, heart gripping action/information has been most available on Twitter. Many of us following the Iranian activists (#iranelections #iran9 #irandemocracy) are also supporting them by retweeting (recirculating to our networks) information/images and taking actions like changing our account locations and timestamps to Tehran to help thwart the Iranian government’s attempt to identify protesters. I believe that instant contact social networks will become increasingly important in …

I remember an early image of John McCain last year. It was perhaps around the time he announced his candidacy for President of the United States, but I’m really not sure. John McCain was in front speaking and he was surrounded by about 7 or 8 white men who were all older and dressed similarly to McCain. I remarked to a whip smart conservative, political friend of mine that McCain really needed to mix up the gender, ages and colors in his campaign or it would be a problem …

I voted today. Here, in Los Angeles, I was one of the few to do so. With prospects of skyrocketing taxes, deep cuts to education and healthcare hanging in the balance, almost nobody cared enough to cast a vote. At the time I write this on Tuesday night, a 12% voter turnout is predicted.
What happened to us?
And by us I mean all of us who gathered last November to stand in line for as long as it took to cast our vote. For a moment, when I stepped into my …

My friends and readers at AAR,
I want to let you know that I will be jumping in feet first to take on the good fight.
I live in the most racially and economically diverse Council district in Montgomery County Maryland. Montgomery County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation. Unfortunately, the inequitable distribution of public services and quality zoning/ development is embarrassingly obvious.
A member of the council has passed away and a special election is being held for his seat. Since I have been a resident of …

So just who is looking at the face of the race card? Not Republicans, of that you can rest assured! Michael Steele, the former Lt. Governor of Maryland, was just elected as the head of the RNC. I was watching a call in show covering the event on CSPAN and noticed that all of the Republican callers were commenting on how great it was to have a leader who is a tireless advocate and well versed on the issues, an individual who is steadfast …

I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait until Wednesday. I’ve been spending all my "free time" volunteering at phone banks for Senator Barack Obama’s get out the vote (GOTV) effort. When I get tired like I am right now, I imagine the fatigue that my ancestors must have felt facing the Poll Tax or the threat of being lynched when they tried to vote in Georgia and North Carolina. But they kept going and I honor their sacrifice by working as hard as I can in this election. …

I completed and mailed my ballot yesterday. Remember, to be safe, send in your vote-by-mail ballot right away. If it is not in the hands of the election officials by November 4th, then your vote will not be counted.
Obama/Biden *check*
NO on Prop 8 *check*
And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men (and women) who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t …

I ignore most of the polls and take nothing for granted. If the supporters of your candidate of choice do not come out and vote in droves next Tuesday, then your candidate WILL NOT win. Both McCain and Obama understand this. If you intend to vote, don’t bore me with any excuses come Nov. 5 about why you did not get it done.
Mrs. Amanda Jones, who is a 109 year old daughter of a slave, has cast her vote for Barack Obama.
According to The Austin American Statesman:
Amanda Jones, 109, …

According to Editor and Publisher,
Tennessee Tribune Publisher Rosetta Miller-Perry says she doesn’t mind embarrassing people if it makes them do the right thing. The right thing to do, she argues, is vote in the upcoming presidential election — so she’s embarrassing hundreds of registered voters who didn’t go to the polls in 2004.
In its latest edition, Miller-Perry’s black-oriented Nashville weekly published the names and addresses of non-voting registered voters living in largely African-American precincts.
A local TV station interviewed several people angry about finding their names and addresses on …

Those elusive ‘Undecided Voters’
My hunch is that most of you reading this blog know who you will vote for on November 4th. I would be curious to speak to anyone truly undecided to find out what their core unresolved issue is. To the credit of both candidates, both of whom spout enough bluster to cloud the Los Angeles skies, each campaign’s website is replete with comprehensive information.
Taxes
The most important issue that came up for me during last night’s Presidential debate and on the high spirited Kevin Ross Show that followed …

In what may turn out to be one of the nastiest, hardest fought election seasons in our lifetime, the dirty tricks are starting early. In Troy, New York, voting officials claim it was a "typo" that is responsible for Barack Obama’s name appearing as ‘Barack Osama’ on a ballot already distributed to hundreds of voters.
According to timesunion.com:
TROY – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s last name is spelled "Osama" on hundreds of absentee ballots mailed out this week to voters in Rensselaer County.
The misspelling, which elections officials on both sides of …
